In 2005, The Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) and the Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators (APPI) - formerly known as the American Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians (AAPP) - signed a definitive agreement signifying a formal affiliation between the two groups and their related Education Foundation activities.
In this affiliation, APPI joined with ACRP to be the single global organization that unifies, certifies and educates all members of the Clinical Research Team. The affiliation brings together pharmaceutical physicians and physician investigators with all of the other members of the clinical research team from around the world.

APPI Member Dr. Anthony Fox helped APPI to celebrate its 10th Anniversary by writing a history of the Academy's first 10 years.
